I listened to the latest Charlap & The Washingtons record after you wrote about it (thanks!) - their rendition of your own sweet way is so great!

The two Brubeck standards are great.. I had the chance to attend his Kennedy Center Honors (at which Charlap played with Christian McBride and Jon Faddis) .. I was a college clown and didn’t go. Dave was a great musician and a kind man

I've been thinking about writing this post for about four years, the (excellent) Charlap rendition is what motivated to finally get it done

Really enjoyed this post! I recently listened to Brubeck's March 23, 1984 appearance on Marian McPartland's Piano Jazz, and Brubeck says, "I wrote ['In Your Own Sweet Way'] two different ways," and, "the first time I actually put it down was for Miles Davis" - it's in the last minute of this conversation track: https://youtu.be/YNe-8QB7yak?si=fygnhRxq5gbIOsf6&t=351

The interview only addresses the melody note in bar 8, over B-flat. Is it F or E? It's telling that Bru plays dominant under E, not lydian, another subtle tell that he thinks the song is in E-flat!
