Huh… San Francisco, huh. Now I’m wondering if “the San Francisco treat” name was gotten from someone who heard Slim? Maybe originally “Rice a rooni?” Seriously… My first Pugno moment was that I think he was the editor of the first Chopin études I got.

Slim Gaillard's hands on piano are so expressive!! His guitar "intro" has traces of what Derek Bailey would go on create. Great fun –– thank you!

Liked Slim’s jam on the Charley Parker lp. It’s marvelous. Great playing, some conversation. At the end of the cut Slim say “and I gotta get early myself”.

Wondered about him. Played piano backhanded.

Time is the essential ingredient….and with all the tricks and jokes’ executed in perfect time, the swing is the big takeaway. Amazing clip!
