Well, you got me to go back and re-listen to a weird one-off album I have "Heavy Sounds" (1967) with Richard Davis and Elvin Jones headlining. Includes a tune with Elvin on guitar, "Elvin's Guitar Blues"!
I first learned about Richard Davis on the Astral Weeks album, but after I got into the Dolphy/Little live albums, anything with Davis became automatically interesting. I love those Booker Ervin albums.
I think I may have some live Miles Second Quintet bootlegs with Richard Davis; I need to check on that. It would be interesting to see how that group sounded with Richard subbing.
