Ok selfspoiler alert. I am putting the visiting musicians at the best hotel in town -- all the other hotels are sold out due to graduation,. One from NOLA, one from Chicago -- separate rooms. At this hotel, Steve Lacy stayed, the young man at the desk told me. (Steve Lacy also known as Steve Lacy-Mota-- who has a number one hit and sold 7,000 tickets at Frost Amphitheatre. I tried to explain that I knew the other Steve Lacy, but the young man had not heard of Thelonious Monk or John Coltrane.
