Such a pleasure to catch the set tonight! The second to last song by Walter Smith III wow that was stunning. What’s it called? Is it recorded?

Ethan, congratulations on the book, my best to Billy. I should finish reading the book today. Mr. Hart has had a fascinating life. His reminiscences of the 1950s and 60s reveal much about that era, about the influence of John Coltrane, and the splintering of the Black Music movement with the emergence of The Beatles, Psychedelic Rock, the riots in the wake of Dr. King's assassination, and more. Have fun on the gig.

Ethan, it is very exciting to see the book come to completion and I can’t wait to read it. I’m also curious about whether any of Jabari’s perceptions have shifted from the years (roughly 2009-2016) when I had my own conversations with him. There are few musicians with his depth of historical and musical insight. I’m looking forward with much appreciation for a project as significant as this.

Hi Bob! I read your Mwandishi book as preparation for my own talks with Billy. In fact, your book YOU'LL KNOW WHEN YOU GET THERE gets a prominent footnote in OCEANS OF TIME. However, I don't think Billy has really changed his mind about anything since 2016, although only he would know for sure.

Thanks, Ethan. My guess was that the answer would be “little or no change” in general, but given the nuance and depth with which Billy thinks about things, it’s more any potential subtle shifts that were on my mind.

Congratulations on your new book!!! It's fun to read all these rave reviews......Do you plan to do an audible version?

Billy told me I should read it for audible but that's a firm non-starter LOL. I guess if the book does well the publisher might try for audible.
