Tonight through the weekend: The Ethan Iverson Sextet plays three nights at JazzCultural, the new NYC club on 46th street. With Jonathan Finlayson (trumpet), Sam Newsome (soprano sax), Jacob Garchik (trombone), Peter Washington (bass), and Kush Abadey (drums).
August 7, 8, 9 — Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

Tomorrow, Saturday August 8 at 3 pm, I’ll be in Harlem seeing the brand new documentary by Haeyong Moon, Bud Lives! A Love Letter to Bud Powell at the Maysles Documentary Center.
August 8 was also the date of Powell’s 1966 funeral procession in Harlem. Eerie silent footage exists.
Never seen that footage before. Looks like Bud got a huge send off.
